The Legacy Donor Foundation hosts Soul Revival 2008.

On March 8, the Legacy Donor Foundation celebrated life with Soul Revival 2008, a party that supports the organization’s mission to save the lives of patients who are waiting for life-saving organs. Held on Fulton Street at Poydras, the evening festivities began with an intimate patron party at the jazz lounge 528 with performer John Boutte. From there, the patrons second-lined to the Jazz Courtyard on Fulton Street and joined the crowd for some gospel music by Shades of Praise. E.L.S., a special headliner, topped off the evening of music.

The party’s proceeds go to the Legacy Donor Foundation, a nonprofit with a mission to educate the public about the urgent need for people to become organ and tissue donors. The Soul Revival benefit was created in 1999, when local businessman and Legacy Donor Foundation founder David Voelker hosted the fundraiser from his home; the event quickly became popular with locals as it featured a combination of music, food and fun, all for a terrific cause.
