The Youth Service Bureau’s “Chef Soirée” heats up the Northshore social scene

Spending a Sunday evening—March 18, to be exact—in Covington’s Bogue Falaya Park was not only a pleasant option to wrap up the weekend, but it was also a great way to benefit the Youth Service Bureau. The party on this beautiful night was the “Chef Soirée,” at which there was more than enough food—85 plus local restaurants—serving their signature dishes to over 3,500 people. More diversions included music by a number of bands and a raffle of a 2007 Mazda 3 car from Brian Morris Autoplex.

The party, co-chaired by Johni Miles and Maurer van Voorthuysen,  raises funds for the Youth Service Bureau to provide at-risk youth with programs of prevention and early intervention to enable them to choose a new direction and become responsible members of the community. The income from the annual soirée will help with YSB services including CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), counseling, the Truancy Reduction Program, FINS (Families in Need of Services), Crossroads Delinquency Intervention, Options Substance Abuse Treatment and the Juvenile Drug Court program.
