“Falaya Fling” raises money for St. Scholastica Academy and Habitat for Humanity

On March 12, the Castine Center in Mandeville opened its doors to supporters and alumnae of St. Scholastica Academy for the school’s annual “Falaya Fling.” In addition to raising funds for the school, a portion of this year’s proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity/St. Tammany West. What makes this event such a stand out is its extensive auction and raffles—which included a 2005 Sea Ray 185 Sport Boat and tuition for the 2005-2006 school year. There were eight silent auction boards with two reserved for art by local artists and St. Scholastica students. The live auction boasted diamond earrings donated by Adler’s, among other high-ticket items. Entertainment was via the Vida Duet, while pianist Ronnie Kole was there to autograph copies of his new double CD, “The Ronnie Kole Show, Live in Concert at St. Scholastica Academy,” featuring the SSA choirs on “Amazing Grace.” •
